Sawgrass Players Club
West of A1A around the TPC courses, far enough back that corrosion slows down, with large golf-course kitchens and a lot of island, downdraft and double-oven work.

On the ground
Players Club sits west of A1A around the TPC Sawgrass courses. It is only a couple of miles from the ocean, but a couple of miles inland with houses and trees in between is enough to change which failure gets to your kitchen first.
Away from the dune line, different calls
Salt still reaches this far — everything on this coast does — but it arrives diluted and it arrives dry. The corrosion clock runs slower than it does on the dune line, and the work shifts with it: fewer eaten blowers, more control, calibration and mechanism.
Steam ovens produce the most confusing calls we take out here. A water fault reported with a full reservoir is nearly always level sensing rather than supply — a probe or a float reporting a level that is not there — and the wrong response is to replace a pump or a valve that was doing its job perfectly well. We watch a live fill before condemning anything, because a fill circuit that works is far easier to prove than one that does not.
Wall ovens are the other constant. “It runs cold” is a symptom with at least four possible owners: the sensor, the element, the relay that feeds it, and a door that has stopped sealing along the top. We meter the sensor against a known reference and check the door before we touch anything expensive, because a flattened gasket loses heat exactly where a thermometer on the middle shelf will never see it.
Bigger kitchens, different jobs
The homes through Players Club skew larger and later than the oceanfront villas, and the kitchens were designed as kitchens rather than converted into them. That changes the work.
There are more islands, and islands mean cooktops and rangetops with either a long duct run to an exterior wall or a downdraft. Downdrafts add a mechanism to everything a hood can already do wrong: lift motors, drive cables, tracks that have taken a spill and gone sticky. A downdraft that rises part way and reverses is usually right about the obstruction it thinks it has found.
There are also more double wall ovens here than anywhere else we work in the ZIP, and double stacks bring a diagnostic wrinkle worth knowing: the two cavities often share a control and sometimes a cooling fan, so a fault in the lower oven can present as odd behaviour in the upper one.
Storm season and control boards
St. Johns County sees on the order of sixty-eight thunderstorm days a year, and this part of Ponte Vedra Beach has the overhead runs and mature tree cover that come with a 1980s and 1990s golf-course build. Control boards do not usually die from cooking. They die from the accumulation of brief supply disturbances that each individually did nothing.
If an oven or a hood control went dark on an afternoon when the sky did something, that is a diagnosis, not a coincidence.
Access
Roads through Players Club are winding and the house numbers are not always where you would expect from the main road. Driveways are generous, so there is no parking problem once we are at the right one. Several sections are gated separately from the main entrance, and the gate list should carry the name of whoever booked the appointment.
What we do here
Steam oven fill and drain circuits first. Wall ovens second — calibration drift, convection ring elements, hinges and door seals. Hood and downdraft work third, weighted toward mechanism and control rather than the corroded blowers we see on the beach side.
Flat diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair. Written estimate before parts are ordered, genuine OEM parts, and an honest answer about whether a tired generator is worth recovering or has already gone too far to be worth the labour.

The diagnosis was right and the part fixed it. What I did not care for was being told almost nothing while I waited, and having to ring twice before anybody would say where the order actually stood.
Philippa G.
The oven side of our dual fuel would light and then drop out ten minutes later. He measured the flame sensor circuit, found the ground path corroded at the chassis and remade it. Solid ever since.
Serafina D.
The infrared broiler would only light across half its width. He pulled it out, found the ignition wire chafed on the frame and the burner face partly blocked, put both right and ran it up to full.
